Splitting to Atomweight

As my coach Rosi, now a UFC fighter, was making her debut in the 135 division, she informed me she was working with nutritionist Mike Leng. I was like cool until the day she came to train with me and I had to cook all her food a day before. She gave me a list with amounts and times she must eat. At first I thought madness, then as I was wrestling her in cage it didn’t seem that crazy. She had bulked up to 141kgs which I thought oh she’s going to be slower. Oh was I wrong, she was like the Tasmanian Devil whirling destroyer of my attacks. Wow had her takedowns gotten fast, when she got on top she was like a vise grip. I went home and as I was covered in ice packs thought maybe I should chat with this Mike guy. Lol

Once I knew I had the fight I hired him, I knew Rosi always researches everyone she has on her camp. I knew he must be good, already I had seen it and felt the proof of his work in the cage with her.
I was so excited to get my first plan as it was another step closer to the fight. Mike asked me many questions to get a feel of were I was with nutrition. Then I got mail and then I nearly died😓 Can I eat this much protein and at night too??

I’ll never do it, I’m too small. Then I thought hold on this is the next mental challenge. Did someone say challenge? Oh I’m in!!

I learnt to love eggs, chicken, red meat and greens as I had it 6 days a week. On the 7th day I got a cheat day which at start seemed like something to look forward to but by the time it comes you’ve eaten so much over the week it’s hard to take junk food. By the end of the day you feel sick 😦

My first few days on it, I thought I’d throw up on my coach Dermot as I also had a certain amount of drinks, PHD protein, amino drive, recovery Synergy to take. Rosi told me this was the toughest part, she was right. Timing was key to everything, get the food and fluids in. Smash the hard session. Repeat cycle.

The first 3 days being on it was crazy, as I lost a huge amount of weight. My abs looked chiseled and I noticed my biceps had really thick muscles, deep cuts were forming at the top of shoulders. Nice !!! It was fun walking into a shop after training and kid behind counter just staring at my arms that were ripped to bits. Probably could have intimidated him enough to give me a mars bar for free. Lol

I also noticed my body wasn’t at all sore after training sessions as this nutrition was my shield. In old diets, I still would have DOMS but now I could go again as soon as I woke.
Mike was always there and I mean that!! I think if I needed to ask him a question in the middle of night it wouldn’t have been a problem. He’s like the Batman, just show the signal in sky and he’s there. Now most times I’d ask can I have this and I’d get No!! He said I’d start to hate him but never even came close. Anyway, I wanted to be the best I can and he was a huge key to it. I just got on with it because if I broke in the diet then I’d break in the fight.

I won’t say it was easy but what choice did I have? Would I ever turn up not on weight never!! It’s so disrespectful to your opponent and it shows you were weak in your preparation. That gives your opponent a huge edge. Plus your ass is sent to the Sauna !!

Chocolate tastes great, but imagine how good it tastes after the victory. I must say the brownies Rosi and I demolished after the fight were amazing. Truly worth the wait. Smiles all round.

Huge thank you to Mike, he’s loves his job and he’s just like a fighter, gets the winning result. He’s not just for fighters but for anyone who really wants to see a fast, safe change in their body. I guarantee every morning you get up you’ll be late because your looking at your abs.

Lol Maybe that was just me 😉 yeah it so was.
